Received more teachers' day gifts today. I should be delighted to receive them, well I am but a couple thoughts came to mind. I realised how difficult it is to earn presents from students, much less cards and was reminded of someone mentioning that these gifts are all mummy's effort. So I've kept all the little things the kids randomly gave me these past years, from cards to scribblings to drawings to loom bands to a pencil to a key chain to a sticker. Gifts from a kid's heart- those are definitely more valuable in my opinion. Slightly guilty of not keeping the little flowers they plucked for me on the way to class ahahaha.
Ironically I have discovered that the more closely bonded you are with the kids, the more likely they are not going to give you anything. In my case. Not that I expected gifts from them but I couldn't really understand why so I thought it through seriously and realised over the past 16 years, I've only given my ballet teacher a teachers' day gift a handful times. Cause. Well, I never thought much about it, never really bothered.
But now I know how tough it is to earn just that much from your students. It can be something so small but yet binds so much significance. So I've decided to play my part :)
